A model of an arts educational classroom. Modernism has changed the concept of time space to its utter limits. Pupils are seen as liberated artists in this particular classroom. An artwork paying Homage to Olle Baertling is placed on of the walls due to the pupils high pitched and firm requests.
In the corner, there are three pieces of drawers from something as ordinary as a wooden office desk. The drawers make up a silent ready-made sculpture.
A glimpse of white light is seen, they don´t know it yet but the white cube gallery is going to swallow the dark cabinet.

The art room is not just a classroom, but also a composite of expectations in the form of material usage and the relationship to the room. Without the materials, executing the subject becomes difficult. The art room is also a sort of imitation of the artist’s studio or the graphic designer’s workshop. Drawers and cabinets with materials are part of the nervous system in the art room. Each drawer often represents a professional category in itself, in the same way the subjects are divided in the school we are now leaving. Sections for advertising pictures, sketches and linoleum tools reflect to a considerable extent Konstfack’s division between different art and craft courses and programmes.
Bildsalen är inte bara en lektionssal, utan även en sammansättning av förväntningar i form av användning av material och förhållandet till rummet. Utan materialen blir ämnesutövningen svår att genomföra. Bildsalen är också en slags härmning av konstnärens ateljé eller grafikerns verkstad. Lådor och hurtsar med material är en del av nervsystemet i bildsalen. Varje låda representerar många gånger en yrkeskategori för sig, precis som fackindelningen gör sig gällande på skolan vi nu lämnar. Fack för reklambilder, skisser och linoleumverktyg återspeglar inte så lite Konstfacks uppdelning mellan olika konst- och hantverkverksutbildningar.
