Noise Perceivers

Defined as being annoying and unpleasant, noise has become a real urban issue since the Industrial Revolution. As our modern society is moving faster, the urban soundscape is becoming noisier and our attention is taken by technology, we forget to pay attention to the surrounding world.
How does our perception of noise impact our behaviour, our social and spatial interactions, and our attention towards the surrounding environment?
By questioning noise and collaborating with it, my degree project aims to give other qualities, sonorities and colours to sound, to change our perception of noise pollution within an urban acoustic context.
Could we find other qualities that used to be invisible if we were to approach the world with our sense of hearing?

Buller som definieras som störande och obehagligt, har blivit en reell urban fråga sedan den industriella revolutionen. När vårt moderna samhälle rör sig allt snabbare blir det urbana ljudlandskapet bullrigare och vår uppmärksamhet tas över av tekniken, vi glömmer bort att uppmärksamma vår omgivning.
Hur påverkar vår uppfattning av buller vårt beteende, våra sociala och rumsliga interaktioner och vår uppmärksamhet på den omgivande miljön?
Genom att ifrågasätta buller och samarbeta med det, strävar mitt examensarbete mot att ge ljud andra kvaliteter, klanger och färger för att ändra vår uppfattning om buller i en urban akustisk kontext.
Kan vi hitta andra kvaliteter som tidigare var osynliga om vi närmar oss världen med vår hörsel?
