Notes on a Brick

Since I was a child, I have dreamed myself away in the cracks. A missing brick, a stick, or a thumb print give me enough information to continue. My game as a child and my design process are not so very different. Both are based on a fantasy about how an abstract object can be used. Abstract in the sense that it, free from context, is willing to be reshaped.

In my degree project, the brick is processed based on its solidity, weight and history with the body’s memories of materiality. Brick structures that hint at the decay shown by ruins, parts of something that once was, become complete here through the imagination.
