Who does the forest and its materials belong to?
The human will to simplify and systematise has created a clever forest adapted to our needs. A rectified and square forest that is planned, planted and sanitised from unprofitability. The symptoms of forest industrialisation became clearly apparent during the summer’s forest fires and insect infestations.
Forestry controls how our forests look, what is planted there and, in the long run, which materials we create in. It is these choices that I am critical of. My degree project examines the materials that are considered unprofitable but are valuable to the forest.
Vem tillhör skogen och dess material?
Den mänskliga viljan att förenkla och systematisera har skapat en duktig skog anpassad för våra behov. En likriktad och fyrkantig skog som är planerad, planterad och sanerad från olönsamhet.Symptomen av skogens industrialisering syntes tydligt under sommarens skogsbränder och utbrott av skadeinsekter.
Skogsbruket styr hur vår skog ser ut, vad som planteras och i förlängningen vilka material vi skapar i. Det är dessa val jag ställer mig kritisk till. Mitt examensarbete undersöker de material som anses olönsamma men som är värdefulla för skogen.
