How can a place leave traces on our bodies? And which scars bear witness to the violence in society?
Research shows that places you live in give an indication of your social status, and how this in turn affects your life span and physical and mental health.
The work About Place, Exile and Scars is my mother’s story. But it is part of a collective process called Mothers being carried out by 11 artists. What we all have in common is that each of us is the daughter of a mother who has suffered physically and/or mentally due to excessive strain at work or to the lack of work.
During the spring exhibition, you can see the part my mother and I played in this collective work. You can view the entire Mothers exhibition, with all of the other artists’ works, in spring 2020 at Botkyrka Konsthall.
Hur kan en plats lämna spår på våra kroppar? Och vilka ärr blir vittnen för samhällets våld?
Forskning visar att platsen du bor på ger en indikation om din sociala status och hur det i sin tur påverkar din livslängd samt fysiska och mentala hälsa.
Verket Om plats, exil och ärr är min mammas berättelse. Men den är en del av en kollektiv process kallad Mödrar som drivs av 11 konstnärer. Vad vi alla har gemensamt är att var och en är dotter till en mamma som lidit fysiskt och/eller psykiskt på grund av överbelastning på arbetet eller genom avsaknaden av det.
Under vårutställningen ser du min och min mammas del i detta kollektiva arbete. Utställningen Mödrar, med alla andra konstnärers verk, kommer du att få se under våren 2020 på Botkyrka konsthall.
