Sensorial Support Structures for Body and Mind
A handrail is something that leads and supports your hand – a spatial safety element that can provide both physical as well as mental guidance. My degree project re-invents the handrail as a sculptural support. By combining strong, spatial structures with situated scents from nature, the aim is to deepen the understanding and practice of spatial design as a support system for the human body and mind.
A scent can make you travel through time, lead you to an invisible world, can hold the power that makes us be in the now and filter the noise around us. By emphasising the spatial correlation, tactility and scent in the shape of handrailings, the installation invites the visitor to be led and explore this winding walkscape.

Ett räcke är något som leder och stödjer din hand – ett rumsligt säkerhetselement som kan ge dig fysisk såväl som mental trygghet. Genom att kombinera rumsliga strukturer med naturinspirerade dofter är målet med mitt examensarbete att fördjupa förståelsen om hur rumslig gestaltning kan ge kroppsligt och mentalt stöd.
En doft kan få en att färdas genom tiden, rymma en osynlig värld och kan inneha kraften att få oss att vara i nuet och filtrera bort bruset runt om oss. Genom att framhäva förhållanden, material och doft i form av olika räcken bjuder installationen in besökaren att bli ledd av och att upptäcka denna virvlande slinga.
