Stories present a way to engage with something that might be quite overwhelming in experience. To make a creature from experiences of something too complex, too large or too abstract to fully grasp in the moment.
By congealing a world of experiences and meanings into an entity, it is possible to engage with it on your own terms. The story becomes a creature that allows imaginative interaction, in a way that resembles interaction between humans. It allows a relationship of thinking between story and person.
By allowing the story to take physical shape, it provides the possibility of including the body in the process of thinking. This changes how we think, what we think. The body enables perspectives other than what the gaze and intellect provide. Making your body present in your imaginative exploration situates the fictive in the same space and time in which your own body resides. Other worlds in your hands.
Berättelser är ett sätt att ge sig i kast med något som kan vara överväldigande att uppleva; att skapa ett väsen från en upplevelse som är alltför komplex, alltför stor eller alltför abstrakt för att till fullo greppa i nuet.
Genom att frysa en värld av upplevelser och innebörder till ett väsen, är det möjligt att ge sig in i det på sina egna villkor. Berättelsen blir en skapelse som medger en fantasifull interaktion på ett sätt som liknar samspelet mellan människor. Den möjliggör en tankerelation mellan berättelse och person.
Att låta historien anta fysisk form ger en möjlighet att även innefatta kroppen i tankeprocessen. Det förändrar sättet vi tänker på och vad vi tycker. Kroppen ger ett annat perspektiv än betraktandet och intellektet. Genom att låta kroppen vara närvarande i fantasins utforskande placeras det fiktiva i samma rum och tid där din egen kropp befinner sig. Andra världar i dina händer.
