Dwelling on Thresholds

”They (thresholds) are passageways, conduits, and connectors that connote transitioning, crossing borders, and changing perspectives. (…) Transformations occur in this in-between space, an unstable, unpredictable, precarious, always-in-transition space lacking clear boundaries.”*

Dwelling on Thresholds reflects upon different modes of living/being, how we feel in different rooms and whom we decide to share space with. It looks at collective dwelling and the increase of single households, now comprising 40% of Sweden’s total dwelling stock. With that said, how can we overcome a binary framing of the individual vs. the collective as dichotomous spaces of being?

From Concrete to Fabric:
The 30 m2 threshold curtain is made up of floor plans of all apartments I have lived in over the past 10 years, with textures and colour nuances reflecting levels of well-being, alienation and moods in-between. The accompanying publication investigates our constructed environment as well as modes of thinking and dwelling in ‘the common’.
